What Else
Of course, Cora woke up sick on Tuesday.
Of course. My little vomit comet.
Whatever's ailing Cora, it comes out as throwing up, and yesterday
was no exception. No fever, no other symptoms - just a stomach not
even able to tolerate water. So we had to give Cora Pedialyte - one
tablespoon every fifteen minutes - all day long, while listening to
her beg for water or ice.
Did I mention the cable repair man was at the house for three
hours?
Which means my day looked like this:
Clean up Cora's throw-up upstairs and set
the timer for fifteen minutes so she'd know when she can have her
Pedialyte. Run downstairs to talk to the cable repair man about
what the issue is, and where it needs to be fixed. Hear Cora
ringing her "sick bell", which I'd given her to ring if she
started throwing up. Run upstairs in mid-sentence, streaking into
Cora's room ready to grab the bucket. Have Cora say, "I'm not
throwing up, I just wanted to know how much more time before I have
Pedialyte?" Run back downstairs, where Maddie is now telling the
cable guy a fascinating story about fungus. See the panicked look
in his eyes, send Maddie away, start to talk again, hear the bell
ring upstairs.
Yep, that was my day. Cora's all better now - she stopped around 4
p.m. and is currently bouncing off the walls.
But it was a long day.
