Dare I Say It's Getting Easier?

Maddie woke up Monday morning without a
single argument on her lips about going to ballet camp.

Praise God for His miracles and mercies!

I don’t know if she was truly
unconcerned or simply resigned to the inevitable, but she never
once asked to stay home. There was the typical morning crankiness,
but otherwise my girlie got to ballet just fine. And she had, of
course, a wonderful time and is looking forward to the rest of the
week.

We took a quick trip after the class to the ballet store for some
new clothes; it turns out that part of Maddie’s concern was
her leotard color. At Maddie’s ballet school, each age is a
different color, and she spent all last year wearing a pink leotard
and looking longingly at the big four-year-olds who came after her.
Well, now, of course, Maddie’s four, and was extremely
concerned she’d be wearing the wrong outfit. So I struck a
deal with her: go to Monday’s class in what she had, and if
she liked it and would return the rest of the week we’d go
ahead and purchase her fall ballet clothes now.

Loaded up on light purple, Maddie is now set and ready to return
and learn more about Sleeping Beauty.

And as for me, I’m simply grateful this hurdle was overcome
(relatively) easily, and hope it’s a sign that new situations
will become easier for Maddie to handle each time she encounters
one.
